Your better off doing an evening course IMO.

Employers don't tend to like the short courses too much

Look at "Construction Skills College" - I think They're based both in Burslem, Staffs and Wolverhampton

You won't do one of these courses then go out and get a job as a plumber.

You cant just go self employed. You need to have serve an apprenticeship or something similar.

If you could just go and do a couple of exams then start up self employed do you think people would spend 4 years being paid a pittance to do the same thing?

They did say in the begaining that we would have to fit bathroom suite and hot water storage at the end to be fully qualified but i asked the one tutor and he said it was fine to do in my own house. But now they saying i cant do that now have to be working for someone insured and when the assessor comes out to sign work off got to pay him works out at nearly another 1000 pound and thats without the folder you have to buy aswell it wasnt explained very well.

The bathroom suite and hot water system are for your city and guilds qualification.

This is what I was doing, lost my placement about 2 months before I had to do my NVQ portfolio and have now been fucked out of tech as I can't complete it All I've got for 3 years of training is a technical certificate I think it is 3 years wasted!

Dont give up thought jamie. Im 21 in december and started college when i was 16. I've only just found an electrician that wants me to work with him. I was doing all sorts but no one had anything until i rang this guy. There is places for people like us to work, just might take a while to find it.
