£352 on a P-reg Passat

Didnt do the Cambelt or anything - just oil change, oil filter, air filter, screen wash, washers, glow plugs, sidelight bulb, brake fluid change and think that's about it!!

I told my mate they seen him coming.

I got a R polo and phoned up VW to get a service but nearly died about the cost. I wanted to keep it all VWSH but i will sacrifice that and take it to my mates garage.

Still doen to very high standard but at a fraction of the cost.

Cant beat older VW's for reliablility. Mines 23 years old and starts up first time, everytime.

I'd say the build quality in newer VW's is great. Compare it to citreon, vauxhall etc where You just find too many squeaks and rattles. In all the newer shape vw's that i have been in, everything is sturdy and put togther how it should be.

Promlems with the newer shape vws is that engine wise, you have to take te whole engine out near enough if you need to change something. You have to take a full section of plastic out just to change a headlamp.
