I may be moving job soon and it means a longer drive to work everyday. I was looking at mk6 fiesta diesels but they seem to hold there money pretty good, a friend told me that the 206 1.6 hdi uses the same engine and the cars seem to be pretty well priced just now.

Does anyone know of any common faults to look for on these? Apart from the usual peugeot rear axles, front wishbones etc. Are the diesels reliable?

Also can these be remapped like the fiestas? Supposedly the gains were pretty good after a remap on the fiestas.

And lastly does anyone know roughly what price I would get for my current car. Its a 56 plate, 5 door astra 1.6 club. Its done 65000 miles, full service history, taxed for 6 months and mot'd for 12 months, I will be looking to trade this in against a 206.

Sorry for all the questions, and thanks in advance for any replies

Colleague of mine at work had one.

The cat started playing up and nocking it all to fuck.

One day it was fine the next day if was sluggish and chugging about all over the place.

Got a new cat and still had issues. Said he had it back in the garage again but it was never 100%.

Guy at work has an 05 plate 206 1.6 Hdi.Think he's had it for nigh on 2 years and never had any bother with it apart from usual servicing. It has flew threw its last 2 mots.
Its bloody quick too, quite punchy when the turbo kicks in.

Cheers for the replies, I've never driven one so will have to take one a roadtest. Are they 90bhp or 110bhp?

Seem to be going for good prices on autotrader. Will get a insurance quote on one later on. Any ideas what money I would get for my astra?

Hdi is a Peugeot thing and stands for High Pressure Direct Injection.

They are all turbo's which would mean your dads isn't an Hdi, probably just a 1.9 diesel.

cheers for the links, really has to be from a garage though as I'l be part exchanging the astra for one. The blue one in the first link is nice as well. Think I prefer them with the kind of multispoke wheels rather that the 4 spoke ones

My mates 206 on 16" nimrods

His a 1.4HDI and the only problem he's had is his mum putting petrol in instead of diesel
£200 later its been flushed but all he needs to get is a new fuel filter haha
Great cars to drive aswell, his has been remapped and it bloody flys but my 1.4 corsa is still quicker

Got a new job, start tomorrow they do diesel tuning boxes as well so definately going to be getting one of these in the next few months.

after fitting the tuning boxes these make around 136bhp and 226lb-ft torque, that will be more than enough for me
