Anyone have any experience of the Corsa D 1.2 engine?
I am looking for a second car for me or the wife to use for commuting / shopping etc. I am toying with a brand new car, and get a healthy discount on brand new Vauxhalls. I am toying with the 1.2 petrol or the 1.3 cdti. Any pros / cons? Am I going to hate driving it? or is it a reasonably easy and comfy drive

Flat mate has one, bought it new and not had any problems. His is the SXI
Been in it a few times and I think they are really nice interior wise, feels like a quality interior IMO.

I was looking at this:
http://www.bristolstreet.co.uk/new-car-deals/vauxhall/3335/vauxhall-corsa-1-2-limited-edition
thought it has a reasonable options / spec list, and looks nice. Either get it in white or yellow

Damgerously slow mate, 1.3CDTi is better but still not great.
1.4 is far nippier and doesn't struggle on the motorway

1.3 cdti is loads better, the 1.2 in the D is terrible.

The corsa D is a bit too heavy for the 1.2 engine, mpg suffers a bit because you have to rev it quite a lot to get it going anywhere.
Also even with the 1.3 cdti you could get it remapped and it will improve it a little bit without too much effort.

Very very very slow, faster compaired to pervious 1.2 tho, mpg cant argue does what it says on the tin we bought ours for her job which has a silly amount of weekly miles and wanted something with a little styling to build on. All round nice little car not very limited edition tho

Yet again, dog slow. No power in the slightest.
IMO worse than the 1.0 Corsa C for 'performance'. That aside nice enough car.

Shame They haven't put an intermediate engine in the LE Corsas like the 1.4 Turbo that Fiat use or a 1.8 16v

I have to readdress this as sat here thinking the performance stats for the 1.2 LE Corsa is almost identical to a 1.3SR Nova which to me is nippy ;lol:

Driving these everyday and having one as a company car, I'd say the 1.2 is more than nippy enough in the corsa d

I liked my day out in mine, very very slow but if you don't need to be anywhere it's fine. Nice to drive.

Drove a 1.2 corsa D and got exactly what you'd expect from a 1.2, so all in all was perfectly happy driving one for a week

Having driven a 1.0 12v B, 1.2 16v C and 1.2 16v D, the 1.2 16v D feels as powered as the 1.0 12v.
So yeah you'd need a 1.4 in a D for it to feel worthwhile, but then you start losing fuel economy etc.
I'd go 1.3 CDTi in 90ps guise.
