Apologies all,

Another Corsa diesel related thread.
After the last thread regarding the 1.3's, I am looking at the 1.7 Dti's

I have spotted two so far.

1 has 90k full history Sxi spec - but is a little out of price range, and would rely on me being able to knock the seller down.

The other is Sxi spec again, full history etc, but has 123k miles.

I know its a diesel etc, but how good are the 1.7's, and should I be worried / put of at 123k?

Both look clean straight cars from the photos.

If anyone has any other suggestions for small hatch diesels (non-french) with under 100k, with a/c post 2001 reg, that would be great also.

Constuctive input would be greatly appriciated.

I'm no expert but I think the 1.7dti is pretty much bomb proof.

Hoping so!
Going to look at both tomorrow, and see what is going on.

Hopefully they will live up to expectations.

However i think i am more likely to get the higher milage car, but I am concerned about the milage, and just wanted to get an idea of if they will go, and go, and go!

weve got a 1.7dti astra work van with 170k on it, oil and filter change every year and thats pritty much it.

it never puts a foot wrong always starts gets abused everywere.

mines just passed 100k... feels nicer to drive for it tbh

and my old 1.5TD was on 130k when I sold it, didn't miss a beat and it's still going

It would still be going, just wouldn't fancy a corsa interior after that many miles, can't see you having many other problems though.

Aren't those a lot more expensive than a Corsa? Engines haven't even been run in going off the mileages you gave. Both 1.3 and 1.7's are good engines.

I've never had a problem with the 1.3cdti's in my experience but lots of people supposedly have, it's a fiat engine.

If you're getting these insurance groups off of Parkers then they are all wrong. Parkers have gone crazy on that for some reason. The 1.7 Cdti is only a group 6.

1.3 is a good engine, insurance groups mean just about nothing anyway so no point paying any attention to them.

Maybe in the old terms its group 6, would be surprised if its group 6 now as Corsa 1.2's are group 7.

Yeah I agree also that insurance group doesn't matter too much now as well, just put the figures there to compare them all.

1.7 dti engines are bomb proof used to have one had it from 70k and sold it on 192k and was still nice to drive and had no major problems with it just kept it maintaned

Insurance groups have changed, it's now 1-50 rather than 1-20!
