Facebook announced Facebook Timeline at f8 (their development conference) today but it won't be available for a while. If you sign up as a developer and create a new Open Share application you can get it before anyone else. I recorded a little video walking through it here:

check-ins are fine as thats kinda the point (altho i still lol at people who chekc themselves in at home) but think location based updates you have to subscribe into dont oyu? i dont have them on i dont think - looks well dodge as you say!
