Ok, well for a start im baffled as to why a car that was built in 2001 has a steel fuel tank.

Now, is there anywhere that specialises in plastic fuel tanks? i cant seem to find any plastic tanks for my car

because cars have been having plastic tanks by default from the early to mid ninties, there is no reason to fit a steel tank on a car this age, plastic is better at everything

Until it freezes, goes brittle & splits along its join. So yes I suppose plastic is the future...

Buy an ATL bag tank if your feeling flush.

yes because i hear of that happening all the time

a steel tank is more liekly to rust and leak

You couldnt be further from the truth if you tried

I work with carbon fibre, kevlar & fibreglass. Not fuel tanks.

yes but your van wasnt made in 1995 was it (i apologise if it was )

its the age thats the factor really rather then the mileage, yes the miles wont help as it chucks salt etc up, but if you went mad and done 147k in one year then its hardly going to rot the tank is it

2002.

I had a K reg Nova on its original steel tank to, which is odd for a Nova my race is 99 along with Mrs CarbonMikes Puma.

Anyway, a brand new Puma fuel tank is like £60 +del, your just making an easy fix into a very costly exercise for yourself & just adding to a pub talk spec sheet for little reason IMO.

Never heard of a plastic tank splitting ever...i'm sure the engineers think "mmm there is a winter every year BTW"

not really bothered about pub talk tbh, but if there was a choice of a plastic tank over a steel one i would choose it as long as the price difference wasnt mega. If that is difficult i will buy a steel and seal it, as i said in a previous post

Why seal it though? As said a fuel tank is going to last at least 10 years, surely well past the date at which any Ford is worth repairing due to the fact they came out of the factory rusty from that era?

because i wont be paying 200 quid for a ford one lol. Will be a replica probably from sel imperial, which i doubt will astl ten years untreated lol
