To have a room, approx 11ft x 8ft rekimmed by a plastereerererer?

My bedroom walls are shockingly poor condition with old lead paint under lining paper. I was thinking of stripping it all down and having them reskimmed before I redecorate.

I also have an artex ceiling - how much would it cost to get that smooth again?

Don't tell me to go and buy stuff from wickes and DIY, I CBA, I don't have the time and it'll look awful if I try

About £10 a square meter, normally around £400 for an average room.

Do I really have 40 sq metres of wall in my room?

Not sure if I want to spend that sort of money on my walls when we'll be leaving the house soon tbh

Thinking about it, one wall is 60% window and one wall is completely cupboard doors... so it's basically 2 walls (11ft by 7/8ft) and a little bit under the window

That's for wall and ceiling.

8m2 on the ceiling, 2x6m2 walls and 2x 8m2 walls so not far off.

Forgot about windows and doors, that would take a bit off, maybe £300.

Day rate is between £80 and £190 with material supplied by me. A room should be knocked out in a day if all the prep is done and room is clear to allow the plasterer access. £80 is a guy who does it on the side of his main job, £190 is a Plasterer full time but the £190 includes his helper/mixer.

I'd be looking at £250ish + materials in for a room

He does a bloody good job too - that said I know he was strapped for cash so every little helped but he's done 5 rooms for my Dad since then for the same fee - £80 a day; larger rooms/complex rooms obviously take longer than a single day

The £190 plasterer repaired this after the original fuckwit plasterer

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=426014

and for clarity, the guy who originally made that mess was charging me mroe than £190 a day

In fairness Jake, I know of a couple of cheap but skilled plasterers who are either retired or do it on the side of another job and so don't charge as much; I wouldn't have an issue commending their plastering work at all, whereas the "professional" who did the above job can go fuck himself

i wouldnt even bother. Its not your house so i wouldnt waste the money on re-skimming the walls. If it bothers your parents that much get them to cover the cost unless your gonna live there till your mid 40's

Strip walls.

£15 - Tub bonding agent
£20 - 5 x bag board finish

£35 materials

£150 a day max two days should be done in a day depending how long to flatten off.

£185 - £335

Scrape the large snots of your artec ceiling, take less plaster to cover.
