I bought a corsa sport with 8 months mot 6 months tax on 02/09/2011
Today i recieve a letter saying the previous owner who bought the car tax, the cheque had bounced and i need to send the tax disk back ?
Where do i stand on this, should i just :

Leave it
Send the tax back and buy my own

Already tried to contact the seller but no response

Sue the seller for the amount.

For the ease to start with I would just pay whatever needed to be paid to keep the car road legal e.g. road tax and then get hold of the owner for a refund.

This as although you may physically hold the tax disk the dvla would probably put a marker on your car and cancel the tax anyways, which will mean you will get stopped and the dvla will come and probably clamp your car which will cost a lot more than just taxing it now

Dodgy as fuck! Send the tax back and get the car taxed. If you get hold of the last owner then sort it out if you can't then just put it down as one of them tings!

Yeah you can. I remember many years ago my brother taxed his car by cheque and it bounced.
