Went up Friday night with a few mates for the weekend at Britcar. Typically had to come home early on the Sunday as my mate had a ticket to the Jonny English premiere in London that afternoon as he built the Rolls in the film So we didn't get to watch the entire 2h4 race. Plenty of racing on over the 3 days though - a brilliant weekend.
Only just invested in the camera (my first DSLR) so still getting to grips with settings and techniques as I've always been on for 'point and shoot' until now!
This Smart got a puncture, threw it into 2 spins, rolled seven times and the driver escaped with only minor cuts & bruising
Later discovered this was actually driven by a former client of mine
This went on to win it from what I understand:
Thorney Motorsport (didn't do all that well as it spent more time in the pits than on track this weekend!)
One Jazz I could accept owning!
Now back to work

we got asked by butler motorsport few months back to do the food for the team!
ended up cooking for 3 race teams in the pits, looking after 4 bmw's and an mosner!
at one point had 3 bms in having work......
one was doing a head gasket change, which eventually retired after a valve dropped and game over for engine!
another one was doing an engine swap, which they had only fitted the day before cos engine temps were running to high, put the broken engine back in and managed to finish the race!
other car had prop shaft problem but finished,
the mosner thay were running blew and engine on thursday...... 4 hours latter they had a brand new engine deliver to the track!!!!!!!! and 36 hours after then the engine blew in the race!
the money involved in the race is crazy, £1200 a set of tires that last hour and half! the drivers for team we were looking after were paying 6k each to drive the car!
was really good weekend and think we provided the best food in the pit lane....haha, its nice cooking for mecanics who just love any food they are given!
cars i noticed doing well were the astra vxr that finiished inside top 15 along with a mk3 golf mainly cos they were prob reliable, also clio came in around 20th!

Damn I wish I knew you were doing that Would have been good to put a face to a name!
I saw your car on the Saturday evening parked up, grabbed a couple of BB shots:
Definitely ridiculous amounts of money floating around that place, but then what do you expect in the World of motorsport I suppose! There was a guy over in the single seater area who had a Aston Zagato one night and a Vanquish S the other too
Loved walking up and down the pits every couple of hours to see what else had gone missing off the donor cars out the back too
Graeme - wide arch thing in the standard platinum grey with loads of decals all over it for an insurance group? If so, yes, if not, no
Tom - there were loads that dropped out overnight it seemed as we went for a nose through the pits in the morning - most that were in the pits were out rather than in for repairs

Yeah that's the one, painted 2 cars for them now. Both the same cars but used for different race series. Go to le mans for the 24hr. Can be costly to get there but not to bad ticket cost and it's an experience.

Was definitely a great weekend, and cheap tbh - a mate picked up all 4 tickets for £100 iirc
Lee Mans is very tempting - there's a possibility I'll be going next year. Would love to do Britcar again too, BUT, I feel it wouldn't be anywhere near as good if the weather was shite
