Got a bit of a noise from the engine bay

Ideas? pas pump? Sounds like a metallic grinding noise, comes from the drivers side around the front of the engine

Why ask Brett? I bought it off IVIark

Did the 1.6 have a problem with tensioners? I sprayed a load of wd on everything, didn't help really,

I don't think it's water pump as the temp stay good, I'll have to get the ex vaux apprentice of the year thats here to have a gander for me

This has jus happend to mine we thought bearings had gone in the alternator but when stripped it down found out they had gone in the air con pump so had to replace that

sounds like the fan belt tensioner to me. easy replaced

Mine did that, thought it was Alternator but that was fine. Assumed it could only be the air con pump after as I had my belt, tensioners and water pump done before.

Mine does this and the aircon doesnt work, never thought of putting 2 and 2 together though

Always thought it was the alternator.

My air con didnt work either, thought the bearings may have done dry or something so put it down to the air con pump

My 1.6 made that exact noise. It turned out to be a blow at the cat/mid pipe join

That's interesting Shaun! Was going to take the exhaust off anyway

Although it does seem to come from the engine bay, around the drivers wing/ belt area
