been asked to work boxing day and new years day, im contracted to do them but the stupid buggers have gave us the option to do it or not.
if your contracted and dont do it you still get paid normal wage but if you go in you get time and a half plus "a bonus surprise" (which i believe is a £5 or £10 voucher)

just getting opinions on whether to do it or not. our lasses says i should but personally i dont think il be in a fit state to work, especially new years day

'Mystery gift' If it was anything good then they'd say as that'd be a lot better incentive.

I'd be depressed working either of those days unless I was earning a literally ridiculous fee.

So you're going to get a normal days wage whatever happens so ignore that and it means (if you do get double time) that you're going to work on boxing day and new years day for a normal days wage.If it's time and half then you're essentially half a days wage down (bar the 'mystery gift')

Our rate for Christmas day is £75 per hour minimum 10hr shift! So £750 that's Christmas paid for most that do it!

I'd do it for that but not a £10 voucher!

Catering was booked for the site, £8000 not sure what's on offer, Christmas dinner or a bacon sarnie!
