Individual rights would mean the end of the league as the best in the world IMO. The reason it is so good is the fact it's much more unpredictable than any other. Effectively turning it into the Scottish or Spanish league kills it

We're a global brand, you can't deny our global reach which is the point. I tend to agree on the overall point that it would potentially spoil the league a little, but Ayre wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't pushing for this imo. Also look at La Liga atm too, closer than our league (although it's obviously going to end up the same as every year  ). Interesting debate anyway.

Possibly 'interesting' from a United fans perspective due to the tone alone, but a pointless exercise if he's really trying to answer the blog title. However you look at it, Barca earn more money than any of the PL teams from domestic (La Liga) media income (regardless of on the pitch performance) due solely to the fact that they have been able to negotiate their own tv deals, that's the point. That gives them an advantage over other european teams.
We may not be competing with the likes of Barca at the moment, but that in itself has little impact on what Ayre is trying to do or the point he is trying to make.
I'm not saying I agree with us pursuing this kind of deal at all btw, just think that piece of writing was terrible

Spain has the U19 Champions, U21 Champions, European Champions and World Champions who are regarded as one of the best national sides of all time. Also the Champions League winners, regarded as one of the best teams of all time and head and shoulders the 2 best players in the world.
It then follows that the league is going to have a higher calibre of player, no matter how much artificial money is being plowed into the Premiership.

The past 2 seasons in La Liga 3rd placed Valencia have finished 21 and 25 points behind 2nd placed Real Madrid.
The past 2 seasons in the Premier League the top 5 teams have all been within 20 points of the Premier League winners.
I'm not doubting that the technical ability of the Spanish league is better (at least RM & Barca anyway) but the Premier League is much more competitive and as a result more entertaining to watch. That makes it a better league for me.

The fact Spain have won stuff at an international level is more testiment to the style of their league and the ethos instilled by the clubs and equally as importantly the spanish FA. That is one thing that we should try and take as inspiration from their league, but it's not going to happen over night and it's not going to happen if we keep buying 6ft 4" 16 year olds from africa to fill our academy's.

If we're basing 'the best league' on competitiveness then the Championship would win.
Ultimately the best is based on the standard of football and as most neutrals would tell you, La Liga is much better to watch.
