Anyone had any dealings with them? A mate did a few years ago and reccomended them but had heard dodgy stories lately about them not being interested. Anyway thought Id give them an email just out of interest about a stage 2 map for the ibiza.

Emailed asking for a quote for a custom map, and what figures Id expect to see with the mods and told him the current spec, map etc. He then just replied saying "Im sure Revo do a stage 2 map" But I dont want a stage 2 map from Revo (which they dont even do for the diesels) and why I asked for a custom map. A stage 2 map for me me if they did do them would be the £50 or so upgrade I think, whereas I was prepared to pay him £350+ for a custom one.
He then emails back asking what figures Im expecting, when I had asked him that in the first email, and usually shouldnt the VAG specialist tuner know what figures to expect from a PD130 with off the shelf mods?

First impressions aren't good, I had heard he wasnt interested nowadays and only wanted to service Audi?

And rant over. just wish the guy who's supposed to be mapping it would get back to me and I dont have a contact number for him yet as only sent a few emails first off and had to get intouch when I was back onshore to map it. And now Iv been home and away again and still nothing. Starting to get impatient

I was going to go with these for our RR day last years and some people didn't reccomend them for what ever reasons, so we went elsewhere

Not heard of anyone around here using them any more to be honest. Much better places out there!

they get really good reviews on corrado club, just did a search

"Just had my geometry set, rear discs, pads and wheel bearings done at Star Performance in Glenrothes and thought I'd post up about the excellent service and quality of workmanship up there. It's about an hours drive from where I live in Glasgow but the difference in price compared to the competition is amazing and was what tempted me to book my car in there. Jim Curley was really helpful and and answered any questions I had regarding the work being done and the rest of the staff there were friendly too. I would recommend Star Performance to anyone on here who wants a great job done at a fantastic price and can assure you that the distance you travel will be worth it. Cheers for listening folks,"

is that the right place?

I would expect any performance garage to be able to change brake components, bearings and correct the geometry.

Ive only ever used falkland performance and they are also a good bunch, very friendly etc.

I used star quite a lot when i had my ko3 hybrid ibiza cupra, Jim "who owns star" can be a bit of a cunt sometimes if you catch him on a bad day... You are right he is starting to move away from the modifying aspects. Wouldnt even put a stage 2 map on a mates cupra, says he cant be bothered with the hassle of cars returning back with problems.

IIRC they will only do rolling road days from x time of the year to y time of the year. Think it was in the summer they wouldn't do them.

Fella I bought my car from had everything done at Star Performance, he rated them highly, looking at all receipts seem to be ok price wise too, they also look after his M3 and my old TT now.

Aye

I suppose its nothing to get worked up about - you dont need to use them.

Also - you cant blame a company for not doing XYZ. I often ask (expect) too much from companies - long hours, emails all the time etc

Try and place yourself on the other side

Seems he can be a hit or a miss then, I mustve got a miss

I have thought about wallace, was asking thme about a revo stage 2 which Revo dont do, and I would be getting Wallace to remove my revo anyway before a map. Theres a guy from Aberdeen / Inverurie, Dave Manson that alot of people have had maps from and Im waiting to sort something out with him, but thought id try Star too. Nothing wrong with a bit of comparison / competition.
Whats Wallace's history with mapping diesels etc? Any good or are they more suited to the likes of Evo's etc that they seem to deal with primarily?

Yup, Russ is good....

Used to work at Wallace Perf and assume he trained up Matty over the years. I have no idea about them and diesels. They were going to do our RRS but we still havent bothered to get round to doing it

If you look on TracScotland there is a post about TS users getting something like 10% off their services. Just remembered that
