Anyone got a figure for this in area, need to check how it compares to metal sheeting for a garage wall.

Materials only or complete? Also what type/thickness of block, single skin/cavity wall etc.

For reference 10 standard size concrete blocks = 1sq/m.

Single skin is fine using 100x215x440 blocks. Cant see metal framing being cheaper.

Buy the blocks and do it yourself block paying is piss easy

Up here a bricklayer will want about £10 a metre as long as there is a decent amount to go at, possibly a bit more, that's labour only though so you've got to figure in blocks, sand, cement etc too.

The plot is 40ft x 60ft but that's getting a bit silly for price, trying to do something big as cheaply as possible.

Can't do the whole plot, too expensive.

Blockwork looks to be cheaper to buy the blocks but I wasn't sure how much to factor in for other supplies and labour.

Metal sheeting we could do but I wouldn't fancy brickwork.

down here i would pay a bricklayer with labourer about £240 a day he would lay approx 10-12m2 in a day i would guess. its twice as fast as bricks. Block themselves would be £8-£10 per metre square. Sand and Cement and fixings i would budget at £5 per m2 dependant on your requirements and the job.

dependant on use id suggest a raft foundation if its for cars?

when i worked for a housing developer it was labour only £15 for blockwork and £30 for brickwork but they were very large developements. i would assume this rate would be correct for the smaller kind of project labour only although a bricklayer would prob price it in days

That rate I mentioned would be labour and materials, I tender at between £20-£25 depending upon type and size of job
