Having some other masterplans now....
What 4x4s would you recommend for towing and generally nice for day to day stuff. Price range, roughly 10-15k. Reasonably new 2007 on for example. Needs to have a bit of grunt, and be as reasonable as possible on fuel - so NO V8 petrols!
I'm not interested in old Frontera's or old Shoguns.... Needs to be enclosed back (for the dug) so no pickups.
Something like a Nissan Pathfinder (we had an 08 Navara for 2 years and it was great for towing, just a little commercial if i'm honest!). What else is there like this?

As are RRSs, Q7's etc I suppose?
Doesnt bother me If I like a car. X5 wouldnt be my first choice but its a decent car that fits the bill in that price range

No. RRS and Q7's are fine. I'd own both. But never an X5!

I love our Disco3 now, few additions going on it just now pre-winter. 3,500kg towing capacity too - I've pulled a few boats out with work's one and its great even over that limit
cheaper tax pre March 2006; We paid £14,750 for a 54plate TDV6 HSE with a bag of extras including a second set of wheels

M Class - a lot cheaper that I imagined! http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3185601.htm
Not that keen on their looks to be honest... even pref the X5 over them.
Disco looks the best bet just now. Just need to plan the rest of the master plan
