What would you class as high milage on a diesel car?
see loads around the 130,000+ and seems to sell very quick.
never owned a diesel before, and not sure what to stay away from when looking.

Guy at work just bought a 406 diesel with over 240,000miles on it, sounds fecked to me, but doesn't seem to stop it working
engines aren't really the problem with cars, its all the other bits, like suspension, brakes, steering etc that seem to wear out first

I bought a Focus with 90k on the clocks. At 100k it needed timing chain, clutch, flywheel etc etc etc....cost an arm and a leg.
Ran like a dream after that though so i'd say avoid the big 100k from experience. Anything with this milage will be ok as long as its had all the service bits done

im looking at a small diesel engine'd car.
like a 1.4, 1.5 something like that. clio dci?
loads with 140k+ and they seem to go straight

A German Derv with FDSH and 100k+miles wouldn't worry me tbh.
Not sure i'd actually buy one, but atm I don't need to.

The other half had a bora on 200k miles, engine ran fine and the interior/exterior had held up pretty well. Sold within a few hours of him putting it up as well. Cant imagine a smaller car holding up quite as well.

Friend has a 530D with moon miles and it's fine, had a bit of rust but he cleared it up with a grinder and painted over.
(yes, a BMW with rust  )

I have a 307 with 110K on which is quite low for 9 year old Diesel it would appear; we use to have an Audi with 130K and neither ever broke or feel like they are on there last legs. Women at work has a 2002 A4 diesel with 225K on and just had its first replacement clutch fitted and the engine is still going strong!

Brother has a Mk4 golf tdi that has just ticked over 200k.
Even his diesel alfa has done 160k and is still spot on apart from the clutch dying.
I've just bought a clio dci on 146k, Not collected it yet though

Be prepared to do the clutch on high mile ones, but they haven't got a duel mass flywheel and the clutch kits are under £100. Although not a easy change.
Turbo's are cheap enough to buy, Otherwise the issues are injector coding which normally shows up after doing head gasket etc.
Expect trim bits to fall of being that high miles and french. Bushes and shocks will need doing, Maybe replacement interior/steering wheel (172/182 interior can be picked up for £200 or so)
When in good working order they are ok cars, Cheap to run but the 65's lack power, 80 is deffo the one to go for but they are more money, They also benefit from £20 tax vs £30 on 65's.
