If I was in charge of striking staff I'd sack them all and get the throngs of people crying out for a job in the next day.
Unions have a lot to answer for imo.

Agree with this massively.
Workers have all the rights they need written in laws in developed countries, there really is no need for unions anymore.

I have same opinion as above. I think Qantas made the right decision. I bet workers still get paid for the time they are on strike...

Shouldn't be allowed to strike if your work for a PLC or public sector imo.

Also agree with the above totally.
Problem is Australia has the power to force Quantas to run. Also the last airline to lock out it's employees folded :-/

But if they were told thry would loose their jobs if thrt stayed on strike I'm sure they'd be straight back.
In thr current climate shit like this isn't helping matters! They should think themselves lucky they have jobs!

Absolutely no time for unions, union members or any form of unionised workforce. Fuck the lot of them.

Unions are good for small to medium sized LTD companies imo.
Striking should be sackable tho

The theory behind unions is sound, it's humans that let it down.

Pisstake that the CEO was awarded a huge pay rise (47% iirc) then pulls a stunt like this.

Its his company he can do what he likes. If the rest of the employees had tried harder at school they could have given themselves a pay rise

I don't mind CEO's taking massive bonuses and pay rises, if you've managed to get there then fair enough.

Also, got a mate in Japan trying to get to Australia and couldn't and got an aunt and uncle in Australia trying to get to New Zealand.
Looks like they've been forced to get them back in the air now anyway.

Technically the shareholders own qantas and he just oversee's the running of the company for as long as he has the shareholders and the boards backing

You know what I mean, stop been pedantic.
Fully agree with john. too many people complaining about higher management getting massive bonuses without giving a thoight to how much work they put in to get there.

So by that reckoning the board thought he was doing a good job and approved his pay rise?

Somebody with a sticker on their car reading 'climate' probably gave him road rage once.
