We use the snap on ones at work, brilliant bit of kit, not had a rounded bolt we can't get out yet, even when it looks like its near enough just a stud left

what about when the bolt head shears off, leaving the stud bit in the hole.
is there something called an easy-out?

yeah but surely if the head is off the bolt will longer be tight, easy grip with maulgrips
but yeah you can get easy out screw type things that you drill and screw

Beat the hell out of it with a hammer, then put some mole grips on it.
Also a socket that is a little bit too small, can be beaten on.

Easy outs can work some times but on small bolts it's very hard to get them working.
Irwins are very good for rounded heads but if it's come off and you can't get a mile grip at all on it. Best option is to drill and tap it.

think it started as an 8mm bolt, but the 8mm socket slips on it now.
i would cut it off but don't want the thread stuck in the hole

you bought the imperial ones the smallest in that is 3/8 which is pretty much 10mm if you got the metric ones then you would have had one that fits

where are the metric ones, these ones seem to have a mix of both.
