We still don't have concrete proof only what the Russians tell us is his skull and the stories of his most loyal and fanatical followers to make us believe that he shot himself and took cyanide along with Eva Hitler as the Russians closed in.
One major part of the official story that has always sat uncomftably with me as that as the Russians closed in on the Reich Chancellery Hanna Reitsch managed to land an aircraft on the 26th of April in the Tiergarten and then managed two days later to fly out again. Now if you know anything about the battle of Berlin at that late stage the area in which the aircraft landed and took off was very small and was inside a small defence perimeter around the government sector of Berlin.
I fully believe Hitler flew out with Reitsch and Von Greim and linked up with Donitz in the north and escaped like so many Nazis to Argentina or possibly fascist Francos Spain.
At that stage in Hitlers life he was suffering quite bad with Parkinson's so I wouldnt expect that he lived much into the 1950s

Just to add the Germans had developed a very good U-boat in the latter stages of the war with a fantastic snorkel device which meant it could stay submerged much longer.
