You're right, he has scored a couple. But he is just not international quality Maybe in the future, you never know. But right now he isn't. Especially not for a nation that expects to be up there with the best.

For the squad they have, they never seem to bring in a manager that could make them work as a unit. Although why Young hasn't been picked is beyond me. They have been struggling for a left winger for years

In a few years they'll settle back down like the French did after the Clarefontaine group got old [/fingerscrossed.gif]

+ still weak defensively (ish)

I wouldn't say Pique and Puyol were weak defenders? Some of the older ones like Xabi Alonso and Xavi won't have much time left in terms of Internationals, but they will be replaced by Busquets and Fabregas Silva/Mata/Fabregas/Ramos/Xavi Martinez etc are still mid 20's And the young players coming through are ridiculous. Current International champions at all major levels RM's Canales will be a superstar.

Can pick an 11 that wouldn't necessarily be there normal choice and it's still pretty handy

Valdes
Ramos Puyol Pique Monreal
Martinez Alonso Fabregas Silva
Mata Llorente

Yeah they are, compared to some other teams. They have a big benefit in that play togetehr a lot of the time but neither of them are that great, same weakness at Barca too tbh. Ramos is a great player but a suspect defender at times and LB has been a Spanish problem for years now.

Not a huge weakness and a ncie one to have compared to say England but even so

I think they are good. But they do have a bit of a luxury in that they don't have to do a right lot defensively due to the opposition never really having a chance to get at them.

Barcelona can play Mascherano at centre back and be ok just cos he rarely has to do much

Well that's a given that compared to some defenders they won't be great But as Matty said, they can put Abidal and Macherano, or Busquets as the defenders and they still usually win There are better stoppers around, but they aren't really weak. About as weak as the England defence really? Rio is past it, Terry hasn't been at his best for years, and King, who is arguably one of the best CB's you've got, struggles to stay fit!
