My mother-in-law makes a really nice lentil and coriander soup.

I'm not really a fan of soup but it's nice to have some on a really cold day.

Not very often I have soup but the Chorizo and Butterbean I've made in the past is pretty good.

ooh, explain how you done this? I love chorizo.

I've only ever made tomator & basil and Veg soup.

I'm going to start replacing my main meal in the evening with some nice home made soup and a bread roll as I usually have quite a big lunch at work.

Need some recipe recommendations.

Broth is awsome on a winters day. I make mine so thick it can be spread on the bread.

Has to be warm home made bread cut into doorstops.

Massive chunks of ham, tatties, carrot etc and loads of lentils, split peas, barley etc.

Vegetable stock cube, water (obviously), leek, celery, carrots, barley, an onion and I threw in some crushed chillies to give it a bit of heat. That's as adventurous as I've got but it was nice.

I love making soup! My favourite is either my own Broccoli and Stilton/Roquefort or my maw's stuff. No fucking clue what it is but my god it's awesome

225g chorizo sausage, skin removed
3 tbsp olive oil, plus extra to drizzle
2 red onions, peeled and finely chopped
2 garlic cloves, peeled and very finely sliced
few thyme sprigs
2 x 420g cans butter beans, drained and rinsed
sea salt and black pepper
squeeze lemon juice
large handful of flat leaf parsley, roughly chopped

Chop the chorizo into small bite sized pieces. Put the kettle on to boil.

Heat the olive oil in a heavy-based saucepan and add the onions, garlic and thyme. Cook, stirring, for 2 minutes then add the chorizo. Stir over a high heat for a few minutes until the oil has taken on a reddish-golden hue from the chorizo.

Tip in the butter beans and pour in just enough boiling water to cover them. Bring to a simmer and cook gently for about 10 minutes.

Season generously with salt and pepper then add a squeeze of lemon juice. Scatter over the chopped parsley and ladle the soup into warm bowls to serve.

The only soup I like is the Heinz tinned stuff , don't like any others strangely.
