i dont understand why everything that comes out of china has to be cheap dodgy shit, surely with there supposed booming economy the standards and quality should be rising quickly

tbf, it says they were refurbished parts. Boeing probably saw them as the cheapest and went for them, no conspiracy.

Probably, I just reposted it.

There are loads of other sites reporting this exact story, Carl Levin brought it up yesterday.

There are various other stories of hardware level back doors on chips coming out of China though.

Been happening for ages but in everything else, when I use to work in networking (Cisco) you would hear about 'grey' boxes being sold and would just halt working after x amount of days/weeks, with no warranty what so ever. Apparently the units were being made in the same factories as the real Cisco gear.

There's a lot of grey stuff going about, I wouldn't have thought the American Defence industry would be able to be conned that easily.

There was a big thing about flash memory a couple of years back, was it the guy that made the chumby?

The memory chips were made on the same fab lines as the real stuff but was from failed components and no quality control etc.

Almost impossible to tell the difference by looking at them.
