If it could do 50 miles totally 'free' on just charge I'd have one, I could get to work and back in a normal day and still do the long slogs when I need it to!

But you can fill up in 5 min when you run out. That'll tak hours to charge.
Its good if you commute under that mileage.
Would be interesting to see how many kwh it takes to charge though

Yeah it probably takes about 12 hours to charge, although saying that, come home at 5pm, plug it in, it'll be done by 5am

Electric cars aren't that great really for the future, they might be cheap to run now but if all 30,000,000 of the cars in this country start using it then it's going to get expensive. And they aren't that cheap to make, isn't that Nissan Leaf about £30,000?

Front end is very Citroen, rear rend is very Prius/Civic IMO.
Yes all these bloody "eco" cars cost a fortune, what's the point in trying to get everyone to be more green if you have to pay a fortune for the privilege.
Bit like bus companies, how they try to sell their services by saying it's greener for the planet for everyone to use a bus to commute instead of everyone driving their own motors, and they use shitty 15 year old buses that constantly break down and even when they do function they chuck out massive plumes of smoke from the exhaust

tbf though back in the day when cars were new they would of been equally expensive to people its just down to the fact its all relitively new technology i imagine/not many people buy them so they cant build loads to cut the costs.
i really dont see the appeal to battery powered cars purely for the 'filling up' time.
i imagine a solar panelled roof would make a big difference make people more likely to buy one anyway if it charged itself whilst parked up.
