Does anyone on here have a car on a PCP deal? If so who do you use for the deal? Main dealer or elsewhere? Also what sort of deposit do you put down in relation to the cars value? 10-15%?

Our car is financed on a PCP using main dealer finance as it was a decent rate and they gave a deposit allowance on top of any other deal we haggled.

When I used to sell cars for different manufacturers 10% was always the minimum deposit needed.

We did slightly more than 10% on ours as we wanted the monthly payments at a certain price.

Any questions just ask.

Was just checking that 10-15% of the value was where most people are. The dealer said 10% was pretty much the utopia for a pcp deal. I can afford to put down a lot more but then whats the point as its not like i will see it back in the long run.

I got PCP for my first Civic about 5 months ago, and I put down ~2k deposit from trade in plus 1500 cash.

With the CTR which I bought a few weeks ago, I traded in the old civic but I was actually in negative equity on it, so I ended up paying for CTR+1k

I only need 500quid deposit for the CTR, but this isn't PCP - it's just a loan.

Was going to PCP a CS3 a while back, dealership was expensive and there were cheaper options. Check out http://www.lingscars.com

It's a pretty sensible way of having a brand new car. The dealership offered three years servicing for £199, no MOT's and in certain cases the tax is included.

1 series is on PCP - think with 20% deposit

Also had the VXR on PCP which was a cracking deal at £239 a month

Ended up costing me just under 3k for 2 years as the residuals were very good at the time

Large deposit? Thats a good monthly for such an expensive car.

I would guess around 20% - 30% on those figures

Only pay the depreciation on a PCP so the deposit shouldn't be too large, you just end up with a big one at the end if you choose to keep it.

and normally they leave enough equity in the car for your next deposit - its perfect business sense for the dealers

Find the deals vary wildly. I was tempted with an offer from Thames Abarth for a 500. Was £200 p/m with a £1k deposti for 3yrs.

Deal is now £2k deposit and 4years. If you check lings cars its something like £350 a month!

yes dealers change offers all the time

Initially when getting the VXR it was a 3 year PCP and when we went to place the order it was then a 2year PCP which was even better

so you are going to give them 3k
then a further 16k over the next 3 years, to not have a car at the end of it?

wouldnt you be better getting a bank loan for the 19k and buying a car that will still be on your drive in 3 years time

PCP always worrys the hell out of me.

I get to drive a nice flash car that I wouldn't normally be able to afford but in in the long run when more important stuff like house and kids come along and you can no longer afford nor want to be spending £400 a month on a car, you have nothing to show for it and so have to scrape some money together to buy a shitter.
