Here's a nice little story for you all this morning...
Where we live, there's a porch with door (and doorbell by said door) and when you're in the porch there's another door to get inside of the house if you get me. We sometimes leave the porch door unlocked during the day if we're at home (like today) and lock it at night before bed.
I heard this banging in the porch so I went to investigate and some sales rep from Eon holding a tablet PC is in the porch (bear in mind he didn't press the door bell, he just let himself in to the porch).
I'm thinking WTF is going on here?
He spends a minute or so giving me some bullshit about how we've been paying a lot since we moved from the MEB (Midlands Electricity Board I'm guessing he's on about?) and he kept asking who pays the utility bills. I kept telling him I do.
After some more sales bollocks (and he keeps looking back at his tablet) he tells me that I'm paying a high tariff and he's here to give me a quote from Eon. Now bear in mind I've not given any information away (apart from when I moved here as he thought I was the previous occupant) despite his fast talking and hammering the questions at me/repeating certain questions in his quest to retrieve as much information about me as possible in his fishing trip.
He then asks me what company I'm using for the gas/electric - I said to him "how do you know what I'm paying if you don't even know what company I'm with?"
After trailing off a bit he thanks me for my time and makes a swift exit! Bellend

During this whole effort, his colleague smashed his way into the back of your house and stole everything, including your doggies
Always weary of that now, after watching a program on it a few years ago.

My dad did a similar thing, kept the guy talking then told him he didn't want it, shut the door, ran through the house, through the gate in the garden fence, through the next doors living room and answered the door in front of the guy who lives there.
Guy looked at him funny and he was like 'what's up did you already meet my twin just now' so the salesman did the whole talk again and he told him he didn't want it again.

eon were in the papers a while back about the way they try and get people to sign up to deals on their doorstep.
when i first moved in 2 black girls from eon came round and said exactly the same as the guy said to you about how im paying too much yet didn't even know what company i was with.
wasted 15 minutes of their time they didn't seem happy.
