Been thinking about this for a long while. I thought a corsa with rear floor pan welded in so can use rear setup. I would be using a c20xe for power connected to f28. But what floor plan can be used?

custom space frame would be the best bet

You don't need a complete floor, there have been Calibra ones in the past where you just pick up the mount points.

There's a guy on PP doing a V6 4x4 Puma and he only took out the Puma floor where it fouled and strengthened around the Scorpio fixings.

You wouldn't use an FWD gearbox for an RWD application?

i really suggust you think long and hard if your capable of this type of project, not beeing harsh but if in your head your going to use an F28 then i have to question what else your considering to use as it simply wont work

chop the front bulkhead to mount the c20 long ways

beware that rwd or even 4wd doesnt automatically mean miraculous handling and grip.

seen cars with too short a wheelbase actually handle worse after going 4wd

that corsa for example, all amazing work, 4wd, mega parts, but not convinced it would drive well at all, and indeed in the video i saw of it, didnt seem to be doing to well

not that convinced about that guys 4wd puma either

f28 would work if was mounted in the rear would it not?

Can I point out, regardless of the original question, that the Corsa B actually has a longer wheelbase than one of the most successful rally cars of all time and one of the cars widely regarded as the best handling car ever?

Corsa - 2443mm
Mk2 Escort - 2400mm
Caterham - 2315mm

So, with the right bits, there's no reason it wouldn't handle!

not that convinced about rwd, but its probably more do-able

If you want a rwd corsa it would be easier just mounting the engine and box in the back. And basicly setting it up like a fwd one. Just in the back. Hardest part would be sorting the gear linkage, throttle cable, cluch cable and extending the loom

its not easy, craig posted my thread up, ive not touched mine for ages as been too busy, but its not cheap to do it properly or easy and nothing is 'off the shelf' ill hopefully finish it, but except for one nova ive only ever seen it done the bodged way of a front subfram ein the rear....doing it that way it utter shite.

I was told type 9 box, sierra rear floorpan.. the only reason I thought f28 is that if we used the floor from cavalier or calibra 4x4 then I can use the rear subframes set up get a prop made up and have it rwd only.. that's just a wild stab in the dark

There was a black B at trax with c20xe and ford box iirc

F28 is still a FWD box which via a transfer bx/prop drives the rear wheels, you still have the FWD box issue
