Had an awesome day fitting some bits to the car, but now I'm unable to upload my photo's and make my very own project thread because I chucked my jeans in the wash when I got inside and had left my phone in my pocket
It's not insured, of course - so I thought I'd give it a few days to dry out, and take out a cheap insurance policy anyway. If the phone is knackered - I can just claim in a week or two I hope to get it replaced
Can anyone recommend a decent phone policy, that'll cover for water damage?
It's a Galaxy S2 if that means anything

Rice isn't actually that effective, it doesnt absorb water til quite a high temperature. If you have any silica gel packets that would be a better bet.

I would be worried if anywhere in your house (excluding the oven) was hot enough to melt solder

There are a few websites offering repair services, I've emailed one of them for a quote.
I'll pay these guys rather than make a dodgy insurance claim, because I'm honest like that - but I can't imagine the success rate is particularly good on a water damaged phone

Was it on when it was being washed? That can make a difference.
I've dropped mine in the bath a few times and they always come out fine so long as you're patient drying it out.

Yep, aesthetically a gorgeous phone, just the software let it down.

Aye it was on, if I knew I was going to wash it I would have switched it off first for sure
I'm going to keep mine in the rice for a few more days, will try it mid week but I'm not hopeful after hearing it sizzling this morning

Drying Machine!!?!
Only
leave it for another few days. I've know a few people who have dropped a phone into water, only for it to start working again after 1-2 weeks once its fully dried out.

It lives it Lives!!!
Well, kind of!
Left it plugged in to the wall charger for 10mins, then held the power in for about 10seconds and a picture of a battery just appeared on the screen!
Not quite sure what it means, it won't do anything else... so I'm just going to leave it plugged in and see what happens.
