Little debate if you will.
That CS page is a bit of a waste of time, only got it because I thought I should.
See a few other sites have an actual person who goes around whoring out the friend requests to all and sundry.
Is this something CS should do? I can't help thinking we're missing a bit of a trick but I've also never liked being too pushy. Although perhaps if you can't beat them join them.

Sure there are young sites with like 2000+ friends just because they put it out there.
Got a few 'come over to our site to talk about x y etc.' as well.
Not sure where the line is really, bit of a departure from our usual style which is sit back and wait.

im not sure about that, normally the people that go looking for car forums are the ones more likely to stick around and contribute. by forcing their hands so to speak they are more likely to sign up, have a quick gander and not come back. ive done it in the past with autovaux when they first started up and a few bb'ing forums

I think with the corsa owners getting less and less (i barely see any modified or similar corsas locally now) it is not the time to sit back and let them come to us.
I never give any input for anything corsa related. I dont think i have in 2 or 3 years, but i still pay my 12.50 every year, and enjoy coming on here. I dont go a day without coming on, but I dont think it would be easy to attract non corsa owners, due to the bad attitude of some members, and due to them thinking it is only for corsa owners.
Tricky

This. Whats the harm in attracting lots of people for only 1% of them to stay long term. Its 1% you wouldn't have had otherwise.

But if that 1% costs you hundreds of hours, is it then worth it?

Might not even be me that does it, it's not a job I would love tbh. I've no issue delegating it.

This site needs more corsa owners. It is called corsasport still isn't it? How many bmws or ford pumas can be on the club stand at pvs etc?

Thats not so bad then.
Its always going to bring in people, how many you will never know till you try it.
Gotta be worth a shot if you delegate it, or have the time to do it.

Personally I think the FB presence should be a club/organisation page with information about the website/club.
FB do not like it when you sign up as a person but pose as a company/club, if people want to like us they can, we can put information on it like show dates, deadlines, meets, new features and anything else we can think of.

Other sites are swerving the rules though, so it is possible.
Nic - none.

It doesn't appear to be working your sit back and wait approach. Need to get more corsa related traffic back on this site called corsasport, or give up on it. The latter seems most likely, sadly.

Plan is here and doesn't involve giving up. Old-ish thread - http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=619877

Start again with the PVS picture of something
and in the picture selection get ALL corsa's B's C's an D's....

I read that at the time and although it has ideas, I can see none of it working. Not now anyway. The groundwork for destruction of this site is well underway already. I don't mean as a website, I mean as a corsa site. Perhaps focus more away from Vauxhall corsas as its not a popular subject on here these days?

I personally don't think you should sign up a new person profile called Corsa Sport. The fan page as you've already set up is the way to go.
Just keep advertising the FB page where you can - on here for example, on flyers if they are ever handed out to people, at shows, etc.
Good communication tool IMO, and people that like the page can also recommend it to their friends too.

That group was started by Matt, drunkenfool.
The official one is dead.
I'm carrying on with the Corsa thing despite what Nic says.

Perhaps my views are what the majority of the site think. Gonna be hard pushed to retain focus on the vehicle the site is named from when nobody actually wants that?
