Anyone?
I've been offered the chance of trying for a position in Sydney.
Have been there twice and really love the country but not really given a thought to emigrating before; but having spoke with the guy over there today me and my wife are giving it some thought! Job would be based in central Sydney; comes with relocation package for me and my family, VISA applications and sponsorship. And he was also explaining that there is 30% income tax relief for the first 4 years for people moving over there.
The quality of life over there sounds good, cost of living looks to be on a par with the UK etc but would be such a big move!!

do it! its the only country id move to permanently, and its a possibility in my head depending on what happens after uni. xmas on the beach ftw

Having been to central Sydney - it's definitely a place I would be happy to live! Great atmosphere... cool nightlife. You're still close to the beach, still close to rural stuff, quite a nice park in the centre of Sydney, water front etc

I've lived there for 10 years and never got bit or anything by a spider...
I want us (me and my wife) to move out there permanently but she won't go because of family still here

I'm going on a 12 month working holiday next year. My mates are emigrating permanently in a few months and they have offered to put a roof over my head while I check out the job situation. I don't think I'll have any trouble finding work since I have a trade and 13 years experience.

How did it compare to living in the UK? I have spent a bit of time out there traveling twice and loved it; but having a long holiday is a bit different to a living and working out there which is my worry.
Have been doing some research and the LAFHA relief you get for 4 years would equate to around $12K a year aswell; so thinking it might be a good chance for 5 years and come back when my daughter is 5 or 6

do it while the little un is still young and wont be disrupted. if its crap you can still come back before she starts school. i doubt you'll dislike it though

Well cost of living it's not really much different to the UK, but the way of life out there is a bit more laid back than here - over here most people are stressheads.
And of course the weather is generally better too. 
Summer time at Christmas may take some getting used to though

I just looked on the immigration website on information about getting a "Returning Resident Visa"...
$1995 (nearly £1300) 
Luckily my wife won't have to pay anything as we only have to pay the one application fee.
Fuck knows how much it would be for one of you lot of migrate out there. Not cheap I imagine.

That's why I'm opting for the working holiday option first. It's a couple of hundred and only takes a week to get it.

The major hurdle we have is our dog; i wouldn't want to leave him behind and he's such a wimp i dont think he could cope with the flight and then 30 days in quarantine Sounds stupid but he really is part of the family!
