Anybody had any of experience of these what are the engines like ect? Thinken of gettin one over the more exspensive 1.9tdi.

1.9tdi all the way. I had a Bora, which is same really. Not had any issues at all.

What's the differance tuning whise between the pd engine and the non pd? I don't have any experience with these engines as always had vauxhalls, what they like to insure? If I was goin for the tdi it would probably be the 110bhp

my mate had a mk4 1.6 and it was slow as a week in the jail.

the tdi will go far better.

I think tuning wise they are both very capable. 110 engine can be made into 150bhp easily i think.

Had a 1.6 s.e myself, ain't silly slow at all.. nothing special but i now have the 1.8 20v non turbo and there's not a massive difference imo. The 1.4 and 1.6 are known for weak gear boxes though, although I never had any issues.
