E10's been on sale for some time in Germany now, there was a big uproar due to the damage it *might* cause, and now you can usually buy normal super alongside E10. E10 is normally 10 cents or so cheaper.

It's not actually corrosive either, but the alcohol content absorbs more water into the fuel, so it's this that causes the problem. Don't imagine as soon as you put E10 in your car that the fuel tank will melt through, it's not Alien blood.

i didn't notice the list before, don't get it really, does it mean my car will be fine, or they just aren't bothering to say with cars older than 2001?

What's the huge major difference between newer and older cars that could affect this ?

Just seems like scare tactics for now.

On the plus point it might be easier to clean up when you spill 40 litres over your drive

I didnt see the list there. It doesnt actually affect many cars.

Im surprised most of the affected cars are VW though.

From memory it's usually seals around the pump or the injectors that deteriorate.

Seems like a fairly inevitable change. What did people do when 4 Star was ditched for unleaded?

I might buy an old Nova and un-convert it so that I can run it on Avgas because that becomes unleaded. Fuck the seals and polar bears.
