Looks promising.
However I think Mr. Jackson and co. are hard pressed to make it as good as the first three.

It's a famous book

I will probably enjoy this, but then hate it when I see it again, like I did with the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Hopefully it won't be as bad as his other recent films.

Not my kind of book / film. Just thought it was from LOTD, didn't realise it was its own story.

"The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" follows title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug.

Just seems like LOTR to me.

Would be kind of like having Luke Skywalker on an epic quest to save the galaxy and calling it "The Jedi"

I know it's a book and follows from that but would rather then left it at the LOTR and moved on to something else now.

If you remove Hobbit and Bilbo, none of that sounds like LOTR!?

i think it will be great, the hobbit is one of the first proper books i read and i can remember i wrote out the whole thing to practice my handwriting because it was terrible
ive got an old leatherbound copy of it at my grandads, might dig it out and reread it

It's one of the most famous books of all time, the Lord of the Rings only came into being because of The Hobbit. It's not a sequel or a prequel, The Hobbit was written first iirc.

Books for nerds? Or books for the educated? Or books for the ones with an imagination.

It's now a trilogy. Purely for artistic purposes, nothing to do with getting more money from basically the same amount of work.

Piss take, imo.
