http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Avatar-3D-Blu-Ray-Brand-New-and-Sealed-/160705922116?pt=UK_CDsDVDs_DVDs_DVDs_GL&hash=item256ad1c444

Its about time they did a general release on 3D Blu-ray of this before people lose interest.

Yeah it was very limited only given away with Panasonic 3D TV's for a short while. Like rockinghorse shit though hence the price.

There's talk of a general release but no date's been given.

Don't play list everything as coming soon though? Wouldn't pin my hopes on that tbh

Isn't that generally how things work ? Company hype their product, people go crazy and buy it on release date then you never hear of it again.

I think most people are satisfied with the BluRay version to be honest, I dont think there would be too much hype about a 3D release.

Same here, but on my 3DTV with the active glasses, the picture is absolute HD on 3D Movies. Granted films that are shot using 3D cameras (Avatar for example) are ultimately better than 'adapted to 3D' movies.

True . I think normal hd doesn't compare to blueray 3d. When I turn a 3d film off normal tv looks shit. I won't be buying any at 40 when it can be rented

Say if I am watching a hd channel on tv it doesn't compare to the 3d blueray . I don't know whether it's because of the depth but clarity looks better

That would be down to the quality of said channel.

3D does not add any level of detail. On the contrary, the picture will have slightly less contrast due to the glasses and you will cut either the refresh rate (active 3D) or vertical resolution (passive 3D) in half.

Try switching 3D off, while watching a 3D Blu Ray and compare the quality. I think you will be hard pressed to see a difference in quality (unless on a passive 3D TV, where the changes in resolution can be quite noticeable).

That goes against everything I've ever seen and how 3D works.

It's just about impossible for the clarity to be better, you've got some form of lens infront of your eye to start with, then you've got loads of issues with your eyes being tricked into watching something in 3D.

A good bitrate 2D HD picture is always better.

It's also worth noting, that the image quality can be vastly different on two different HD videos, even if they share the same specifications.

Quite a few older film titles re-released on blu ray are actually up-scaled DVD material, that looks horrible compared to the better transfers.

So if you're comparing some up-scaled material presented as HD to a 3D blu ray of say Avatar, the 3D HD is going to look miles better, but in reality it's like comparing apples and oranges.
