1.2 16v SXi was the worst car I have ever owned. Problem after problem after problem.
Wish I had listened to Russ when he tried to warn me

My 03 1.2 SXI was bomb proof. And I gave it death too.
Loved that car.

1.0 is just shite end of. 1.2 no doubt the timing chain will be noisy, check gear linkages down back of engine, should have been replaced by now with a metal one instead of plastic. Just general stuff then.

Timing chain, anti roll links, gear linkages, steering racks, leaks into footwells.
Most off the common issues.

I've had a couple of C's, both good.
Hammer's is still knocking about and that's seen a bit of abuse in it's time, not needed much done.
I can guarantee whatever one Anty buys will have every single possible fault.

They are alright but most suffer the same problems at some point.

I had a C 1.2 sxi for 4 years, had 58k on the clock when i bought it and sold it with 96k on the clock.
Only problems i had were
2 rear springs broke
needed a new handbrake cable
and the wheel bearing went twice
and the Gear linkage went, most of them must of been done by now i would of thought and its not an expensive fix anyway.
My timing chain was fine even at 96k
Would i have another one, no, i would buy a 1.4 twinport, its cheaper on tax then my 1.2 was and the fuel economy is better, plus better performance

Check the EPAS isn't easier to turn one way than the other. The handbrakes are horrific, I've replaced pretty much everything on mine and it still doesn't hold on steep hills

Not necessarily, the one on my car was replaced in January 2009, but Vauxhall did it so it was another plastic one. Needs replacing again now so bought a metal one.
Front and rear springs are known to snap, other than that I think most things have been mentioned. If there is knocking from the front when going over bumps then best case is it's ARB droplinks which are cheap and easy, worst case is steering rack which is a lot more expensive.

Mrs had a 55 plate one that was a pile of shit. In 2 years it had :
3 drop links
4 wheel bearing
Steering rack
A misfire when cold
A lambda sensor
Back breaks done about 3 times
Handbrake cables
2 rear springs
2 cv joints
And it needed the timing chain done , only done 41k when she got it

I bought my Mrs a 2001 Corsa C.
I only payed £500,
To get it through the MOT I needed to do:
Head Gasket - Z12XE
CV boot
Welding on rear inner arches as they had rod through were the bung goes (near the sill)
Front Coilspring.
Did the chain at the same time, only owes us £700ish but beware!

Same on mine, had been replaced but again with a plastic one, could have done with doing when I got rid.

on the 1.2s ive had to change loads of waterpumps and cv joints, also springs are chocolate on them like most vauxhalls. far better cheap cars you could get imo
