Not used the PS3 for a while and recently set back up after changing TV's.

My controller only seems to work when plugged in. If I unplug and press PS button nothing happens. I have tried pressing the re set button on the back and have turned on PS, plugged in controller and pressed PS to sync. All works fine until I un plug.

Any ideas?

Was it flat when u tried use it? They take a fair amount of charging before they will work again, without being connected.

I'm sure it was working, but I have been playing Fallout NV on the 360 for ages so I hope you are right.

I'm charging now so will leave on.

they do play up sadly. There is a tiny hole in the back of the pad thats a reset button, stick a pin in it.Then try to sync it again.

Tried the pin re set.

Controller won't work unless it is plugged in.

It was not used for almost a year and was on charge for 4 hours last night.

First, try another USB cable and USB port.

Apparently you can buy replacement batteries on eBay but you gotta make sure you get the right one for the controller, or something.

Why? All you have to do is plug the cable back into it for a few seconds and it reconects to the original PS3

If you need a new one, look on avforums, I got a couple off there a few years back for a lot cheaper than new ones (obviously second hand)
