how i always thought you fit then using a sandwich plate on to the oil filter

There will be a pressure switch on the block somewhere, you just remove that and stick a T in there, connecting your OEM pressure switch and your aftermarket pressure sender for the guage.

Sandwich plate is for oil cooler.
