Don't you hate when people try to prove their point but have no facts of figures to prove it?

Started a discussion with some one on Facebook, who was stating that most of black people are unhealthy? Asked for figures over and over and all I got was " there is 1billion people in Africa"

Some how all African Americans got left out...

that is what I said! In a way! I said they have strong legs so they can jump high! But then this guy says do you know how many people in Africa are unhealthy.. Asked for figures and got none in return apart from "There is a billion people in Africa" and got called "ill-informed".

A few years back I was in a pub chatting...

Not sure why, but the conversation got onto why 'black' guys cant swim fast...me with a 'black' canadian I quite innocently said 'it's because they're denser than whites'

The whole pub erupted saying I was calling 'black' guys 'thick' when I was talking about them being bigger boned with more muscle mass and being heavier than a similar sized white bloke

No, they're not more prone to disease genetically.

If all the people that lived in poor communities in Africa, for example, lived in a wealthy area and had access to the amenities like wealthy people do, then they'd be healthy.

You then put the same number of white people in the same conditions and they'll suffer all the same diseases, malnutrition and toxicity affliction etc...

The social determinants of health are simple. As you go down the social classes, from your health professionals, managing directors etc, down to manual skilled and unskilled, then right down to the people in poverty, you'll notice a 'social class gradient'.

Environment, income, stress and access to amenities/facilities determine the health of a person.

Read some of Professor Marmot's work on the Whitehall Project and you'll be able to hit your doubters with facts and figures, Daymoon.

That's funny.

Yeasterday we got onto the subject of black people somehow at work.
Our office manager said 'black people can't float'. Obviously this was funny to hear, but he had a solid reasoning for it.
