Just a theoretical question.

If I get a go-kart and put an electric motor could I still be done for driving with no insurance/tax/MOT etc?

According to Wikipedia, as long as it's a electrically-assisted pedal cycle I will be fine

Why not? You are actually not supposed to drive them on pavements? That's what I thought anyway.

I am not stupid. That seems to be the law/regulations. And I was saying in theory, not that I would.

http://www.rustek.co.uk/legal.php

With regards to numberplate, it would not need one.

i genuinely cant believe you think its legal and perfectly acceptable? can you not see why it would be stupid to allow people to drive a go cart on say a 60mph dual carriageway?

the fact is you cannot ride a normal bog standard go kart on a main road.

there is a road legal one IIRC which you can buy

also when you go to turn a corner, will you just put your arm out?

also interested how your horn on your go kart will work?

just wondering what will happen when i join a dual carriage way at 60 and your go kart is trailing along at 30mph?

what is to stop me to put push bike lights on it? :S

http://www.pedicabshop.com/shop/other-products/electric-assist.html

As long as it is up to 60kg (for a trike, excluding batteries) and power no more than 250w seems to be legal.
