Evening all,

Some **** tried to steal my car last night. Bent the door back and messed with the ignition barrel. Please see pictures below. Just looking for some advice on how to repair it as the car doesn't start now?!

Key will turn to the third slot without resistance and the electrics (CD player etc) come on but no starter motor. Key still able to disactivate the steering lock and turn the wheels etc so I'm hoping the damage isn't too bad!

Any advice welcome...

Editted thanks - sorry the images are a bit large but at least it's relatively clear what we are looking at! I'm not sure what the thing is on the second image but it was on the floor?!

Thanks in advance

Surely you just put the two bits together that look like they should be together. My classic scooby had somethin like that, just unscrewed the barrell off the back and you could start it by hand without a key

Surely they would know the key is still needed as the chip to start the engine is there.

Sadly not - I hoped that would work, it clicks back into place but still no resistance on key and no starter motor...

Is the black plastic peice something from the ignition switch also?

When my ignition switch was dying, the stereo would lose power when the key moved about, anyway my temporary soloution was to push the ignition switch against the barrel as there was a bit of play there which was the cause and tape it in place. It lasted for months like this
The switch was probably only 1mm out of place but caused the problem anyway you could try this. Probably wont work but worth a try.

£8 sounds like my sort of repair price! Do I simply head down to the scrap yard and remove the unit from another Corsa B / Tigra?

Also is it pretty simple to swap over my lock barrel so I don't need a second key?
