How long does it take? Someone bought something from me on eBay and it turned up damaged, so I fully refunded him (2 days ago) but the money hasn't come out of my bank account yet. There isn't any money in my paypal account so I presume they just take it straight from my bank account?

Its been 2 days since I refunded it and I have the buyer whining at me saying I haven't refunded him, I was under the impression a refund via paypal would be immediate?

I should add, It's showing as refunded when I view the payment details in paypal

How is a refund credited?
If the sender used their PayPal balance or bank account, the money will be refunded to their PayPal account balance
If the sender used their credit or debit card, the money will be refunded to their card. This may take up to 30 days to appear on the card statement
For payments funded partially by credit or debit card and partially by balance, PayPal refunds the card portion back to the card and the remainder to your PayPal balance
The refund will be credited to the sender in the currency of the original payment, using the same conversion rate used for the original payment

Paid by paypal, refunded by payapl 2 days ago, money still in my bank account.

We had this a while back. The refund was done as an e-cheque which took about 7 days to clear. The buyer wasn't too pleased in our case too.

probably has that daft "temporary hold" on it, takes 5-7 days to clear
