hi all was out tonight with my mate in his corolla and a lad pulled up with a xe'd corsa and stopped and had a chat he asked what brake my mates car was so we told him 220 so he blurts out only 16 more than mine then so i asked what he had done to it and the usual answer accured its been "cammed and chipped" oh and he said its also got a heat wrapped manifold, i told him no way he was running 204 bhp but he was having none of it, i am right in thinking that that figure is impossible from just a cam and chip? just want to make sure i wasnt making a complete idiot of myself arguein the case

The only way to be 100% shore is to get it on the rollers ans have a print out to prove, get the lad to come to next rolling road day

fast road is the highest lift cam you can fit to a redtop without pocketed pistins so about 8-10bhp there. and your lucky if you get 6-7bhp from a chipped ecu on an xe. that what superchip qouted me for bhp gains.
probably 160bhp maybe 165bhp on a good healthy engine.

my Xe made 204 bhp - had a bit more done to it than cams and a chip
throttle bodies
blydenstien head
cams
simpson race exhaust and manifold
440cc injectors
omex managment -
blah blah blah blah
so yeh- cams and a 'chip' i would say 160bhp tops

Dreamer You get them all the time, for every make of car. I just leave them to it these days and don't waste my time.

I'd hazard a guess that an EK9 would win over a 1/4 mile tbh But aye, that's not uncommon around here either. I know a healthy XE would beat an EK4 VTi because they are fucking heavy.

Tbh Eck, over a 1/4 of a mile, there wouldn't be alot in it between an EK9 and an XE Corsa. I reckon it would be down to the driver.

I know there won't be much in it, Nik. But the LSD will help the Type R off the line quicker. I think it'll be closer on the move than from a standing start tbh.

I had a wee play with one on the motorway one night, on that night in that situation I was pulling on him. Was very close but I had a definite advantage so I'd say you're right in what you're saying

LOL the amount of times iv wotched that on youtube, im going to be running ported and polished head, kent AST 1612 cams, twin dellorto dhla 45 carburettors, 2.5 inch manifold and 2.5 inch stainless front to back, and have it all set up on a rolling road and even then i'l be happy with 180, near to 190 at a push. so 204 on cams and chip isnt very true
