Right chaps, It was my birthday a few weeks ago and the missus keeps whinging as she didnt get me a present as I couldnt decide on what I wanted. I have now decided I would quite like a machine polisher but not sure whats best to go for.

No experience with them(apart from a shitty halfords one, that did fuck all)

Looking to spend approx £100-£150 and would like that to come with some fluids and pad thingies.

Whats best to go for?

Mezerna is good especially if you havent used polishers before as its pretty mild, quite hard to do damage. Its a good starter kit that!

DAS6 is good for beginners... Go for the sonus pad and menzerna polish kit from cleanyourcar, its brilliant and you can't really go wrong.
You do need to adopt the correct technique though so you might wanna get on detailingworld if your not already and look at the guides.

I am looking at a kit that includes Menzerna PO203S and Final Finish 85RD with Lake Country pads. My car has fairly bad swirls through the black metallic that I hope to be able to correct with the above products

Good info here:
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/index.php?_a=viewDoc&docId=29

Another thing you need to take into consideration is paint hardness of your car, this obviously determines how abrasive you go with polishes and pads and also what rpm you can run at safely. But to be honest I have machine polished everything from my girlfriends Smart ForFour to my RS6 and M5 with no issues with that kit!

Just take your time and you will be fine!

Not sure what car you have put the DAS-6 was a waste of time on my Audi and my brothers BMW.

Didn't seem to have enough ooomph.

Worked on my other brothers Astra GSI well though.

Used them on my Audi RS6 and my BMW E60 M5 so both have pretty hard paint! My RS6 was dark blue and my M5 was Silverstone Metallic (Silvery Blue) and it worked a treat on both of them.

Its the pad and the polish that you use that give it the "ooomph" really.

On my old Flame Red Mk3 Gsi i used a D-A polisher with Farecla G3/G10 and it brought the colour right back out. Was faded pink with dried water marks on the roof and bonnet and the above stuff worked wonders on it. Was hard work but worth it.

i have the DAS6 and menzerna polish and old VW paint.

i figured i didn't care about doing it all perfect in one hit, just do a bit here and there when i can be bothered, eventually it will be alright
