Where does everyone get their inspiration from?

I want to overhaul my wardrobe but don't know where to start.

I'm not talking about boat shoes with no socks and shirts with the top button done up.

I'm OK at buying the odd shirt, but have no clue when it comes to picking entire outfits.

When they are overhauling their wardrobe I guess they do

I don't mean outfits that can only ever be worn together, I just mean stuff that matches.

To clarify, I don't want to look like everyone else in town, I just want stuff to go well together

I see something I like, I buy.
I don't plan outfits. They just fall together.

I'll admit I follow trend a fair bit.

When chinos and espadrilles came into fashion I hated them, bought a pair of both and now I love them. Every years the same, just look at the models in the window of Burtons, Republic etc.

Go on websites. Find some lookbooks, see what colours, styles etc go together..

Reiss lookbooks are always good and look smart, I'd keep off the high street or you'll just end up a clone of everyone else.

you cant go wrong with well fitting jeans and tshirts. ocne you find a brand that fits you right youre sorted. adidas originals are a good basis to work from for things like trainers and jackets

Also get one decent pair of jeans, they will pretty much go with anything then. Not a nasty pair of gstar or something, just a simple pair of jeans.

Do people overhaul their whole wardrobe?

Surely if you're wanting to change it all for something more fashionable it wont be 'you' and you'll just feel a dick wearing it.

I've used lookbook.nu, a lot of shit on there but the odd thing stands out every now and again.

If its in Topman, Burton, River Island etc you're already too late and every university fucker is wearing it + those who are 25 on a night out and still think they're 17.

I won't be going to places like Topman, Burton and River Island. I'm a bit old for that kind of stuff anyway, just want to look smart really.

I'm not saying I want to change my image, what I have now is alright, but it's all pretty safe, just stripey Abercrombie shirts and smart jeans for example. I just want something a bit more exciting, without being too in your face like most of today's fashion is

Stick to jeans and go for polo t-shirts with the top button done up and some vintage sunnies.

You won't catch me wearing anything with the top button done up unless I've got a tie round my neck!

I buy what I like, sod whats in "fashion". Although without realising it I loosely follow fashion. But i'm too old for most really fashionable stuff.

But i'd never wear chinos or have top button done up tbh.

I'm generally a jeans and fitted t-shirt guy.

I also like hoodies.
