The family in the story have 6 kids and neither of the parents work, they live in a three bedroom house and they get a total of £582.40 a week in benefits.
There is a break down of their out goings:
Entertainment £20
Phone + Internet £7
Water Rates £15
Sky TV £15
Council Tax £18
Public Transport £30
Mobile Phones £32
Energy Bills £38
Rent £76
Weekly shopping £240 (includes 24 cans of beer, 200 fags + large pouch of tobaco).
Other £91
All I can see is why the fuck are they spending about one weeks worth of benefit per month on Phones, TV, Fags and Booze? Thats 25% of income spent on shit.
These sort of people make me SICK! They sit their on their lazy arses moaning that they have nothing when they seem to be spending more money on crap than I spend and I EARN my money!

How are they managing to spend £960 on food?
 at choosing between eating and heating.
How much heating does a tiny house with 8 bodies in it require?
The food budget could be easily quartered, they must be eating massive steaks every night.

they want to cap it at £26k  christ im better off on benefits .
but i agree they should be capping it, although they should reduce it more.
could easily cut another £10k out of that a year.
why do people not working require the following...
- other £91
Weekly food shop could easily cut off another £50 if not more (unsure howmuch fags/drink costs) either way gtf.
- £32 Mobile phones - you dont need them
- £15 sky would be gone straight away
so thats £188 saved a week.

this stuff boils my piss as my aunt is on benefits for make believe illnesses and she gets so much for free.
even 26k a year is too much. if you're on benefits, you need to live on the breadline, not eat out of m and s and shop at choice.
also why are they counting their own luxuries into the weekly shop? fags and beer are not needed, so therefore shouldn't be included. same with sky.

£240 on food is ridiculous. They are probably the sort of people that just buy ready meals, crisps and chocolate which makes it more expensive. If you shop carefully you can get a lot of food for very little money.

Pretty disgusting to be honest - the SEVEN kids will get free school dinners as well so how they spend £960 on food is beyond me.
My mum works in a department of the Job Centre and said they're doing a trial which basically consists of whoever has (house) rent to pay, the money will go directly to them (say £400 a month rent) and they'll be expected to then make the payment their self.
No doubt they'll end up spending the money on something else and becoming homeless.
EDIT: They should be put on a "blacklist" for 'luxuries' such as Pay TV (Sky, Virgin, BT)

They should introduce a system where they give you "Benefits supermarket credit" instead of outright cash. Then make sure it doesn't cover things like cigarettes and alcohol.
I will submit my proposal to Mr Cameron.

Food coupons so everyone else knows you are on benefits too.
Also, if you are on the dole yet do nothing all day, you should be made to do things like litter picking on beaches and shit.
I think people on benefits should be inspected.
If they have widescreen tv's, Sky etc and iphones, they are getting too much and it should be cut instantly.

It is a joke and the fact that they have sky tv and spend £240 a week on food shopping is so dumb. What do people who work in normal jobs do when they can't afford sky tv or £240 a week in food... yes, that's right, they don't buy them / cut back on luxuries.
Imo Benefit should be there to support people unfortunate enough to be out of work, but the reality is - these people treat it like a lifestyle.
I wish the lords hadn't stood in the way of the cap - it's only natural these lazy assholes on benefits are going to complain, it means they have to get up off their arse and get a job or give up some luxuries (like sky tv!).

Yep that's a better idea. Limit it to only work on utility bills (not stuff like Sky etc), supermarket bills (excluding cigarettes and alcohol), limited mobile phone allowance (something like £20 a month) and some other stuff that I can't be bothered to think of.

I think all their finances/bills/outgoings should be handled through a third party (like a debt consolidation agency) where they can filter and restrict all the shit thats not needed. The people claiming the benefits won't see any of the cash at all.
That said, the more complicated you make it the more money is spent managing the whole corrupt machine that is 'benefits'.
