loads of 12v type things eg

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1N5349B-5W-ZENER-DIODE-12V-Pack-4-1N5349-/300571135984?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item45fb6f8ff0

but it looks too small, im guessing it wont take the current

i think i need 300watts but cant find one that high

my fan override switch has a lamp on it that illuminates when switched.

the problem is if the vehicle kicks the fan on then the light will illuminate even if the override switch is off because the current will flow back up the override wire.

its not a mega problem in fact i think it could be a benefit as it would show if my fan was on regardless

Use a relay between the switch and fan. Job done.

Would just have to have a position indicator on the switch so you knew if it was auto or if you had put it on (incase you forget)

Was about to ask what if you have the fan on and then it automatically kicks in but that shouldnt happen

Also where is the live taken from to the switch?

Relay would also make it possible to switch an ignition live meaning you cant leave the fan on with the ignition off

300W at 12v is 25A.

Might also be worth replacing the switch for a double pole and running the tell tale off the other pole.

Use the diode. It'll make you look clever on your puma forum.
