Because my Aunty has a tractor that used to be her Dads and it has a plate that would probably be quite valuable if it can be transferred

Just found the photo I took. It's not that at all It's 478 JVA.

Just got it in my head with it being a reg like that they won't do it cos they can't assign a new number plate very easily to a vehicle of that age?

and as long as the number plate is older than the vehicle its going on, plus BOTH vehicles (in the car world not sure about tractors) have to have tax mot and insurance, as iv not long had to do it to get a number plate of one old land rover to go onto a honda. for sentimental value.

Depends whether the tractor can have its original id verified, you can't always do it on older stuff particularly if the VIN is not present or clear.

There are also some paperwork reasons why they might refuse, namely if you want to keep the tractor registered and they need to issue another pre 63 plate for it, which will then be worth money as well. Not sure.

Also needs to be in test, that might actually be your biggest problem because that tractor won't be.

I don't think with those you will.

I have 4 vintage tractors with all plates like that and they can't come off them.

If a vintage car has had its original plate removed, the REPLACEMENT playe then can not be removed

Thats why a guy on ebay is selling a morris with 1AN on it but cant sell just the plate. Worth looking into

Deffo can't come off. can't take any plate off a vehicle without an MOT and tractors don't have MOT. been there in the past trying to get a plate off a tractor that had EMM6A on it.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

Yeah it doesn't have an MOT as like you say it doesn't need one. Got the latest style V5 for it but it's not insured. Just sat there rotting in a field
