iv got a digital dash in my corsa, and im having trouble keeping the tracks for the back lights from burning out iv had to repair it three times now in the last week but i thought it would take standard 12 volts... at this rate i wont have to worry about the tracks burning out for the back lights as they'l be 100% made of solder but its just anoying any help? or ideas?

i had this problem when abit of the track broke off for the bulb holder and i solderd a peice of wire across the two next to it. it turns out there should be a gap in the track between the indicator and the next bulbs. Obv joining it was drawing too much current or sumithing as my track burnt out and i had to patch it up.

i would have a look a the haynes manual circuits for the car the dash came from, most dash's have a regulator on the back to give a stable voltage for th einstruments but illumination is normaly 12v however it will have gone through an adjustable dimmer on the original car so it may be worth adding one if you dont have one fitted or turn it down a bit if you do, another option is to change to led illumination as that draws far less current than normal bulbs and would probably solve your problem
