Thats what I thought aswell, once its laid and settles / takes a hold and turns into a lawn the. It would be classed grass
Turf is maybe just its name for when removed and rolled up ready to be laid

How ive always thought of it.
Turf = rolled grass with soil ready to lay
Grass = green lengths of plant growing on soil.
Once the turf is layed and takes hold it goes from turf to lawn.
