I just got a cheque through the post today from PAYE as a Tax Rebate.
However it's from tax year 2004-2005.
My question is, do they do these tax rebates year by year or how do they do it?
I estimate I may be due a rebate from 2009-2010 but wondered if they do them on separate occasions.

Snap, being self employed on CIS is good, £3091 from September to April.
Worth noting these are different to the PAYE rebates though where HMRC have calculated your tax wrongly.

Heard a lot of people got the letter and had to wait on the cheque. I had a letter and a cheque, in seperate letters on the same day.
£550.00 from 6 years ago I wasn't giving a flying fuck about.

I think doing my self assessment in January sped things up for me.
Funny thing is I was working at this house and the owner came in saying how she had had a tax rebate and the day before I'd noticed an envelope at home which looked like a bank statement so just ignored it, then when I saw her letter it looked the same so I'd had a cheque for 2k sat at home for a week
If I hadn't seen her letter that day I'd probably never bothered to even check I'd got the rebate
